General Manager

If you are well organised, enthusiastic and diligent with a spark for supplying superb service and in possession of great people skills then one of our houses may be the perfect place for you to hang your hat and call home.  If you’re a master at the helm of hospitality and think you can confidently captain the crew and keep our proverbial ship sailing smoothly then our General Manager role is made for you. No maritime experience is necessary, just a can-do attitude and the ability to ensure that our pub stays as inviting as a chilled pint on a scorching day. 

The role involves:

  • Driving the offer, levels of service
  • Responsible for all aspects of team members
  • Full profit and loss accountability
  • We are looking for:
    • An Assistant Manager or General Manager with experience of a high end offer
    • A confident, professional, leader with strong personal presentation
    • Reporting to the Managed House Operations Manager, the role involves:
    • Being the face of the business
    • Creating a customer focussed environment where service comes first
    • Recruiting, training and motivating a team of customer focussed individuals
    • Creating a fun and professional environment for all employees & customers.
    • Maximising and maintaining operational standards
    • Achieving budgeted payroll and margin targets
    • Controlling daily costs and managing annual budgets
    • Contributing ideas which can be used to further develop the business
    • Promoting and driving special events and marketing activities to maximise footfall
    • Proactively solving problems and managing the business
    • Contributing to menu development sessions with the senior operations team
    • Actively managing food service and menu feedback alongside the head chef
    • Managing compliance with health & safety legislation and licensing laws in line with company policy
    • Managing stock, ordering and maximising yield
    • Forecasting sales and costs
  • Qualifications
    • A degree in a related subject, business, marketing, management, hospitality or hotel & catering
    • Personal Licence
    • Basic Food Hygiene
    • First Aid
  • Skillset
    • Confidence and communication skills
    • Commercial and financial awareness
    • Industry and product knowledge
    • Leadership and organisational skills
    • IT skills, computer and EPOS
    • Strong personal presentation
  • Previous jobs
    • Management role, minimum of Assistant Manager level within a well established premises
    • Food & beverage experience, proven understanding of the concept of a pub with a strong food offer
    • Depending on the site food led or wet led experience
